Solar Collision
The land of fire and ice - a name given to the country of Iceland
I spent two weeks shooting a project here, driving over 1500 miles around and into the highlands of this incredible country.
With solar storms happening almost every night. The Aurora Borealis occurs when Solar wind charged particles from the sun are captured by the Earth's magnetic field and drawn towards the poles causing a collision. The charged particles collide with atoms and molecules in the upper atmosphere, producing light. But not just light, light that dances and stirs the sky, light that leaves us in awe of the wonder and the expanse of what exists above us.
There’s reality, what we experience, and there’s how we remember how it makes us feel.
They aren’t always the same….
It’s crazy and also can be overwhelming how our minds can scramble things together. How what we feel and what was, can blur
I think reality, like art, is only as real and impactful as our ability to see it.
It’s not just what we see, it’s how what we see compounds on what we know, and ultimately how it makes us feel; and how those feelings cause us to act as a result.
This shot is a result of things I’ve seen, of reality, of how moments can come together to magnify memories, and how reality is a compounded experience
This shot is a compilation of two moments from two separate places in time, both shots I took in Iceland. Both shots that when combined magnify the beauty of a memory, of what it is to stand in awe of beauty. To stand among the wreckage we have among us, and in awe of the light above us.
